Mechanical design engineer
More than 4 years in Artec 3D
Luxembourg office

We specialize in all aspects related to the mechanical hardware of our products and with all the in-house hardware setups for Assembly and Calibration teams which we build from time to time. I particularly focus on packaging for our scanners, a critical factor in ensuring safe delivery to our customers and also having the product in great functioning shape throughout their life cycle.

I like that we have a field for multiple ad-hoc experimentations. I have the freedom to do some things in my way or along with my teammates. For example, we regularly discuss new problems and solutions and question each other: “How can we do it now?” We might not have a procedure already, but we always get to a solution that has to work quickly and efficiently.

The packaging we made to ship Leo is the thing that I can be proud of. At first, It was about 19 kilograms of wooden box: huge, massive. It took us about 6 months to optimize it and later on turn the wooden box almost into a “soft” box.

For some time I was that one guy who kept dropping and breaking boxes and products in the old Luxembourg office . Of course, I mean the crash tests that I’ve done to perform the best solution for scanner materials and packaging. And I believe that it somehow helps everybody involved, like the logistics, the users/customers, and also the product. And now I'm doing the same thing for Spider 2. Hope it turns out to be good.

Working alongside individuals like VP of Hardware R&D Alexander Sharapov, and my lead Dmitry Lebedev has always been valuable and insightful. I deeply respect the expertise of all our colleagues whose knowledge and dedication are truly inspiring in Artec and collaborating with them is both enriching and enjoyable. There are always people who are ready to offer you help whenever you need it. I've never felt that, oh no, it's Monday, I have to work rather I'm always like, okay, it's Monday, let's get back to work for the time I have been in Artec.

Drawing from childhood habits instilled by my mother, I find that music enhances my focus and productivity. Occasionally, I bring my dog to the office, which creates a comforting atmosphere conducive to creativity and concentration.

Outside of work, I pursue photography as a hobby, continually striving to refine my skills through photo shoots with friends. You can find some of my pictures on my Instagram page https://www.instagram.com/2after5?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet&igsh=ZDNlZDc0MzIxNw== and also please contact me if you need any personal shoots required, I’d be glad in doing it for you :) Spending quality time with my family brings me immense joy which I prioritise the most. We spend a lot of time together in different places by traveling or taking a stroll in the trier city, meeting friends, or simply in our kitchen, where both of us love cooking, especially Indian cuisine which is vast!

I love reading and “Sapiens' is the book I can recommend. It puts multiple perspective about life and simply reminds us how precious life is.

We live in Trier, the oldest German city for the past several years. Around this region called ‘Eifel’ there are a lot of beautiful lakes, hiking, cycling tracks and there is this fairytale route from Trier to Koblenz and it's amazing if you go by train or by bicycle along the river, This region connects you well with nature and also gives a balance with modern city life and medieval town life.

Originally from Chennai, in the southern part of India, I take great pride in my Tamil culture and heritage, which boasts a rich history and language. The diversity of India's culture and traditions is something I hold dear, and recommend everyone to experience it if they get a chance. If you want to go to India, you have to be prepared. Because it's huge it’s easy to get lost in its beauty and diversity.

1/ What superpower would you like to have?

Maybe waking up in different parts of the world as I wish. I want to experience all the cultures possible because it makes me wonder how huge and small we are at the same time.

2/ if you happen to be on a desert island and you have a chance to get one book with you, what would you pick?

The Alchemist by Paolo Coelho. The book gives you an idea of what you would be seeking for and where it can be found :)

3/ If you had an opportunity to switch for another's working department in Artec 3D what would you pick up?

Maybe something with end users, like in marketing or sales as I like interacting with people. Also I believe it is more challenging to work with people than with software. So yes, I want to be in their shoes for some time and see how it fits me.
