β˜… Adventure travelling in Java in comfort and without fuss β˜…

4 days and 3 nights. Climbing 2 active volcanoes, visiting 3 incredible waterfalls, photo session and drone photography.

YOU WILL SEE THIS AND MUCH MORE WITH YOUR OWN EYES πŸ‘‡πŸ˜

Imagine driving an old 1982 Jeep Land Cruiser down the slopes of a mountain

and then you ride on horseback through a field of volcanic sand all the way to the foot of the volcano.

Then you have just 248 steps to climb (5-10 minutes), and there you are walking along the crater of the active volcano Bromo. Where one big step to the left and you can roll down the mountain, and one big step to the right and you will find yourself in the very centre of the crater 😱 where sulphur is bubbling and boiling and even sometimes lava 🫣 can be seen. It's dangerous and mesmerising. There is a loud bubbling and boiling sound coming from the crater, reminiscent of the sound of a Boeing 777 aircraft engine starting up. Right at the very edge of the crater, like this πŸ‘‡

πŸŒ‹ Bromo is the most visited active volcano in Indonesia and last erupted in 2011. Nowhere in the world is there an easier way to look into the mouth of an active volcano.

Next to Bromo Volcano, there is the extinct Batok Volcano and the highest volcano on the island of Java, Semeru Volcano, which is as high as 3,676 metres. Semeru spews a small puff of gas smoke into the sky every 15 minutes. If we are lucky with the weather at dawn, you can see this stunning trio in the volcano valley from the observation deck.

You will also explore the beautiful waterfalls of Tumpak Sewu, Goa Tetes, and Madakaripura Waterfall. These are the most beautiful and largest waterfalls on the island of Java.

We structured the itinerary to alternate between volcanoes and waterfalls so that the amazing contrast in nature of the island of Java could be felt more.

Tumpak Sevu waterfalls, hidden deep in the rainforest of Java, is one of Indonesia's most spectacular natural wonders. Its name means "a thousand waterfalls" in the local language, and this description really fits, given the multitude of streams falling from the high cliff. The waterfall is about 120 metres high and forms a giant curtain of water that falls into a deep canyon surrounded by green tropical vegetation. Surrounding the waterfall is an unspoilt rainforest where a variety of birds and insects live, creating a continuous concert of natural sounds.

Descending to the waterfall is an adventure that requires trekking through dense forests, descending vertical ladders with a rope and crossing small streams. As you stand in front of the majestic waterfall, time seems to stand still and your soul is filled with peace and delight at the unrivalled beauty of nature.

πŸ’Ž Goa Tetes is the hidden gem of the island of Java.

It is a whole infrastructure of Instagram-perfect cascading waterfalls, at the top of which a beautiful cave with blue water awaits you. And the cascade ends with a large pool, which is definitely worth a swim. There are so many waterfalls in one place, from large to small with pools and caves. It is hard to find a place more beautiful than this one.

After Tumpak Sevu, we will stop at a beautiful lookout overlooking the Kapas Biru rock waterfall and the active Semeru volcano, which spews a sulphurous billow of smoke every 15-30 minutes.

Madakaripura Waterfall is a majestic natural wonder, shrouded in mysticism and legend. It is considered the highest waterfall in Indonesia, with a height of approximately 200 metres. Madakaripura is not just a waterfall, but a complex of seven waterfalls, each with its own unique charm.

πŸŒ‹ Ijen volcano crater.

The last day of the tour will take you to the most beautiful Ijen Volcano, one of Indonesia's most unique and spectacular natural attractions.

It is an active volcano with the world's largest acid lake, an incredibly beautiful bright blue colour with a slight greenish tinge.

The ascent to Ijen Volcano is along a wide trail, which is a dirt road of a country road type, about 2-3 metres wide. The path follows a pattern: climb, then plateau, then climb again and then plateau again. This rhythm allows you to catch your breath after each steep climb. Along the way, there are breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.

◾️ 1586 metres from sea level - trekking starting point.
◾️ 2386 metres from sea level - crater of Ijen volcano.
◾️ Vertically we will climb 800 metres.
◾️ The climb takes about 1.5-2 hours.
◾️ The path length is about 3 kilometres.

Already included is the service of a porter (porter) with one trolley for your belongings. You will be able to put your rucksack into one of these trolleys so that you can walk up to the crater on your own.

As you approach the crater, the air is filled with a strong smell of sulphur. This is a good time to wear a respirator, which your guide will give you. Inside the crater is an acid lake, which, although dangerous, leaves a lasting impression with its beauty and power.

You will go down into the crater itself to the lake and see how sulphur is extracted. The lake in the crater of the Ijen volcano on the island of Java, Indonesia, is known as one of the most acidic natural bodies of water in the world. The lake contains high concentrations of sulfuric acid and other harmful chemical compounds that can cause serious skin, eye and respiratory trauma.

The pH level of the lake's water can reach close to 0.5, indicating extremely high acidity. In comparison, the normal pH level for clear water is around 7, which is considered neutral.

In general, swimming in the Lake of Ijen Volcano is extremely dangerous and is not recommended.

The last major eruption of the Ijen volcano was in 1936.

Sometimes the volcano increases the concentration of sulphur gas in its vapours so much that access to the crater for tourists is closed. For example, this was the case in 2012, 2017. As long as the volcano is open, it is worth using this chance to see it with your own eyes.

Visiting volcanoes and waterfalls is an experience that will stay with you for a lifetime.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING WITH YOU:

1️⃣ Clothing:

For visiting volcanoes and climbing, it is necessary to provide yourself with comfortable shoes and a set of warm clothes. Backpack, flip-flops (crocs or sandals), trainers, 3-4 T-shirts, sweatshirt, windbreaker, trousers, bathing clothes, mackintosh.

For those who get very cold, it is recommended to bring a hat, scarf, gloves and extra socks. Each person has a different feeling of cold, so you need to take care of your own comfort and choose the right clothes for a temperature of about 10 degrees Celsius.

2️⃣ A passport photo is required to be carried on your phone.

3️⃣ Chargers (cables and adapters), PowerBanks, portable music speakers.

4️⃣ You may need cash rupees for small miscellaneous expenses on the road: food, drinks, if you want to pay for individual carts for climbing up/down the Ijen volcano, buying souvenirs, clothes, etc.

5️⃣ A small towel and shower facilities. These will be needed for a hot shower after climbing Ijen Crater before the long return to Bali.

FEATURES AND NUANCES:

ℹ️ The night before the start, it is recommended to lie down early and get a good night's sleep. As we will be inserting the night before dawn every day on the trip to meet the sunrise on the volcanoes. It is recommended to be as dry as possible at the beginning of the trip.

ℹ️ Before setting off, we recommend having a solid breakfast. The first solid meal after the start, will be 5-6 hours later, after taking the ferry to Java Island.

ℹ️ Bromo and Ijen volcanoes will be cold. It makes sense to dress warmly but still as stylish as possible for the photo session, as much as possible. Your trainers will be all dusty. There won't be much to walk on bromo, there will be jeeps and horses. But the ascent to the crater Ijen will be on foot 1,5 -2 hours. Although the road is flat, it is still recommended to walk in comfortable trekking shoes.

ℹ️ For waterfalls it is obligatory to take swimming clothes (swimming costume / shorts). Preferably comfortable shoes for the waterfalls: flip-flops, crocs, sandals, etc. to walk on water and rocks. At the waterfalls there will be a descent through the water: trainers will get you wet, flip-flops are fine but may fly off; ideally you need something that will sit firmly on your foot.

ℹ️ For lunch we will stop at the most interesting cafes on our route with good food. Keep in mind, however, that it is generally very difficult to find Western food on the island of Java; even posh hotels serve Nasi Goreng and other local specialities. Be prepared for this.

ℹ️ Remember, you are travelling to active volcanoes and wild waterfalls, not going for spa treatments in posh hotels, so be prepared for slightly extreme conditions.

🌀 WEATHER RISKS:

Nature is a great artist, bringing with her notes of unpredictability and mystery. On any of our journeys we are just guests in her magnificent performance, and unfortunately we cannot guarantee you sunny weather with cloudless skies and the best dawns of your life. But we always check the weather forecast thoroughly before starting a journey.
