How to create a TON-wallet and start using it
We are BaToN team, and today we will tell you how to create your own TON wallet, using Tonkeeper as an example. And also we will understand what kind of NFT/tokens are sent to you by unknown wallets after your transaction in TON blockchain.
Below we have written for you detailed instructions on how to create your wallet to store tokens of the TON ecosystem:
You can find it in the App Store or Play Market (depending on your device).
2. Make sure you are downloading the official app from TON Apps Inc. Since scammers often try to counterfeit applications and “profit” from gullible people - in stores may be “fallen” and phishing analogs-applications Tonkeeper. By the way, we will have a separate article about scammers, which we advise you not to miss.
3. Install the application and launch it
4. Once installed, open the Tonkeeper app on your device.
On first launch, you will be presented with two options: create a new wallet or import an existing one. Select Create a new wallet.
5. Create a PIN code. This is optional, but we advise you to be completely secure.
Think of and set a PIN code that will be used to confirm transactions. Memorize it, as you will need it to access your wallet.
6. Write down the cid phrase (24 words)
Tonkeeper will generate a 24-word cid-phrase (secret recovery phrase). This is the key to your wallet that allows you to regain access if you lose your device or delete the app.
Be sure to write down the phrase in the correct order, for example, on an A4 sheet and keep it in a safe place. For example, in a folder with important documents or in a physically real wallet.
In no case, do not store digitally, for example, do not take screenshots and do not save in notes, do not send even to the “Favorites” section in Telegram. After all, no one is immune to negative occurrences that can affect the loss of your data.
After all, the loss of a cid-phrase will lead to irreversible loss of access to the wallet, as Tonkeeper is a non-custodial wallet, and no one, including the developers, will be able to recover your data. Absolutely no one, except you.
7. Confirm the cid-phrase
The app will ask you to enter a few words from the cid-phrase in the correct order to confirm that you have recorded them. Enter the requested words.
8. Create a password
Set a password to access the app. This is an additional layer of protection. You can also enable biometric authentication (fingerprint or Face ID).
9. The wallet is ready to use
Once setup is complete, you will have access to the Tonkeeper home screen. You can now:
Receive and send Toncoin or other supported tokens using the wallet address or QR code scanning, connect the wallet to the application you need (be sure to check the applications, as there are many scam projects/phishing bots and anyone can fall for them).
Connection to Telegram is also available for all users. If you want to use Tonkeeper via Telegram, find the official Tonkeeper bot (link @Tonkeeper) in the Telegram app. When you find the bot - follow the instructions to connect your wallet. This will allow you to manage your balance right in Telegram.
Keep your assets safe and don't forget the cid phrase.
