📝 The European Parliament passed the Data Law, which affects smart contracts
“A smart contract should include features that can instruct the contract to stop or abort an operation without consent,” the document says.
In other words, a centralized switch is supposed to stop smart contracts, on the basis of which the entire DeFi sector functions. It is in decentralization and the absence of a single point of failure that the main advantage of DeFi lies, and the authorities want to remove it.
🔔 How this initiative will develop further is not yet clear, but the bell is unpleasant. The bill was passed by a strong margin, and discussions will now continue at the level of the European Council and individual EU member states.
