How I cured my procrastination by using my phone
I've sat in my room alone, angry at the world and myself. I tried every productivity and motivation trick I could on the internet, but little of it seemed to work in a long-term. Why didn't that super secret productivity hack my account that all CEOs use didn't work on me?
Most people don't stick to their resolutions and goals. Ask anyone in the gym who works out regularly and they'll all stinkface the afirmative: Gyms suck at January. Every January gyms get stompted by new faces - people who never worked out before decide that this year is going to be different! I'm finally getting into shape and change! And bam, three weeks after the gyms are back to normal. When I experience sudden burst of motivation and decide to act on it, without it being a part of a bigger process. I might have done do it once or twice, but sooner or later the novelty wears off, and motivation, no matter how strong it was, dissappears. I could trick other people with an illusion of progress, maybe, but not myself. Without having a clear system and process in mind, no amount of willpower and motivation would ever convience my brain into doing the hard things.
The only working way I have found to battle it is by this. I opened a note on phone and wrote down exactly what i wanted from my goal. Then, i made a list of everything that I could think of that I will have to do and i kept writing untill the list is complete. I even included there some trivial tasks, like picking my clothes from the drawer and putting it into my gym bag. I organized my list both by sequence and priority. I also wrote down all the difficulties i'll face on my journey to achieving this goal. (Once written down, they looked more like puny excuses to every one of which I had a perfect counter). Now, lt's a little bit more clear. The vague goal of mine of "achieving a perfect 10/10 body" seemed to become more tangible. And, of course, setting a deadline would be preferable All I had to was follow my plan on a daily basis, and adjust it from time to time, which is much easier and sustainable to do, than acting out on a spur of the moment each time. Soon enough, all areas of my life included a similar note. I've never really had to fight with a lack of motivation or indecisiveness
