Weekend in Vienna

You may be thinking about planning a weekend trip to one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. If so, one of your first decisions should be whether or not you will rent a car and take your own way around Austria. Vienna is certainly one of the most beautiful cities in Austria and is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe.

The journey starts with taking a train from Vienna to the Marmaris region. You can enjoy a train ride through the amazing scenery that Austria is so famous for. You will get to see rolling hills, medieval villages, and beautiful castles along the way. Once you have passed through the city, you will visit the stunning Hohe Tauern National Park. After leaving the train station, you can continue your trip into Vienna by hopping onto a rented car and taking it to explore some of the attractions in the city. One of the main attractions that you will want to check out while in Vienna is the Hofburg Palace. This palace was built by the Nazis during World War II and is open to the public on several occasions throughout the year. If you would like to have a close up view of the palace, you can rent a car and go on a guided tour of the palace. This tour is best done during the summer months when the weather in Vienna is warm.

Once you have visited all of the main attractions in the city, it is time to visit some of the lesser known places. One of the most popular attractions in Vienna is the Hofburg Palace, which was destroyed during World War II. You can still view some of the antiques in the building, but the reconstruction of the palace has taken place in order to create an even bigger and striking area. During your visit to this palace, be sure to stop by the glass doors to the underground storage facilities. These rooms house some of the most unique antiques from throughout the years.

After seeing all of the sights, it is time for a bit of shopping. You may want to try out a little bit of modern art while you are there, or grab a couple bottles of wine for a picnic after you have finished enjoying the many different attractions and beautiful places that Austria has to offer. There are tons of shopping opportunities in Vienna, and each of the main districts has its own unique culture. It is definitely worth taking a look at some of the unique shops and boutiques that are all over the city.

After spending a wonderful weekend visiting all of the main things to do in Vienna, you will still want to get out and enjoy some of the scenery around the city. Many people choose to drive around the beautiful landscape that Austria is known for. While you are driving down one of the many streets in Vienna, stop in a small town to enjoy a nice lunch.
