Results of the first day of the Tashkent International Investment Forum

On March 24, the first Tashkent International Investment Forum started. In the first half of the day, the forum was opened by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The forum became the first large-scale event that brought together more than 1.5 thousand major investors and high-level guests from 56 countries.

The business program is full of panel sessions, thematic discussions and round tables, which reveal the investment, trade, industrial, transport and transit potential of Uzbekistan and the countries of the region, where they announced further steps to implement socio-economic reforms, outlined the government's priorities for the strategic development of the country, stimulating the private sector, strengthening international relations and other areas.

One of its priorities is to reveal to the global business community the impressive prospects and opportunities of the national tourism sector as a priority for foreign investors.

As part of the forum, the head of our state held a number of bilateral meetings.

The President also took part in the ceremony of launching the construction of a new thermal power plant with a capacity of 1560 megawatts in the Angorsky district of the Surkhandarya region.

The project with a total cost of $1.2 billion will have the capacity to produce 12 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity and is the largest power plant built in Uzbekistan in recent years.
