An award ceremony for NGOs
On February 27, the Eco Wellness Hotel & Spa hosted an event organized by the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage on the occasion of World NGO Day.
The ceremony was attended by Adviser to the Minister Temur Mirzayev, Chairman of the National Association of Non-Governmental Organizations of Uzbekistan Kamoliddin Ishankhodjaev, representatives of the Public Fund for Support of Non-Governmental Organizations under the Oliy Majlis, experts and heads of NGOs.
"International NGO Day was first officially proclaimed by the Baltic Sea Regional Council on April 17, 2010 and was widely celebrated internationally on February 27, 2014 in Helsinki, Finland. In 1950, the concept of "international non-governmental organization" was introduced.
Currently, according to the Ministry of Justice, more than 9,000 NGOs are registered and operating in Uzbekistan.
The role of NGO’s is huge and invaluable in further developing the tourism in the country, improving the infrastructure, creating the favorable conditions for the development of the industry through the interconnection of regions with high tourism potential, gradually implementing the comprehensive measures for the protection of cultural heritage.
For example, the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, the Ministry of makhalla and Family Support, the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan, and local authorities have implemented a number of projects in various fields paying partnership with non-governmental organizations.
“As part of the project “Sayohat barcha uchun” (Travel for All), 50 people with disabilities visited Khorezm, Bukhara, Samarkand and Tashkent regions,” Abduhakimov noted.
