Rishtan - land of great potters

Potter Tohir’s museum-workshop was our first destination in Rishtan. He worked in the magazine "Mushtum" in the 80s of the last century and drew cartoons on its pages.

In fact, Tahir potter, who started his job as a journalist, creates his products in the fields of literature, religion, poetry and art. The difference between these pottery products and others is that the master placed samples of poetry in pottery.

The next destination of the project team was the legendary Alisher Nazirov’s school of ceramics.

Alisher Nazirov, in 1994, had a contacted with Japanese potters on the basis of the Japanese exchange program and worked effectively in the field of Uzbek-Japanese traditional pottery.

Alisher Nazirov is a supporter of preserving traditions. He has dozens of students today. According to Nazirov, every potter must do his work with his hands, heart, mind and heart.

Along with the multifaceted and charming works of applied art, the master has stepped into a new innovative direction. As a result, large art exhibitions of traditional potters of both countries were held in Uzbekistan and Japan. Following that, at the initiative of the master, the only Japanese language school in the country was opened.

Today, more than 100 young men and women are studying in Japanese universities with the goal of improving their skills. Every year, the students of the Noriko-Gakkyu Japanese Language School have achieved great success in the eyes of Japanese experts.
