WIUT celebrated its 20th anniversary

Westminster International University in Tashkent (WIUT) celebrated its 20th anniversary on Friday, March 4, at the “Alisher Navoi State Academic Bolshoi Theater”. At the event, over 500 guests rejoiced at the unique classical music program specially organized and performed by theater singers and musicians, as well as the opportunity to find out about the first International University in Uzbekistan and Central Asia.

Bakhrom Mirkasimov, the rector of WIUT, opened the event: “This is a requisite event in the history of the university and in the development of higher education in the world. This year, WIUT is 20 years old, and we are proud to proceed to train new knowledgeable and highly qualified graduates who will promote to the progress of a new Uzbekistan”.

WIUT opened its doors for the first time in January 2002 to 120 students. Since then, the university has made great strides and in the 2021 academic year, over 5,000 students were admitted to WIUT. Turning to 2003, WIUT launched the first student union in Uzbekistan.
