Kedarnath Dham
One of the Char Dham stops and more than 1200 years in age, the Kedarnath sanctuary opens its approaches to explorers from April to September. At a stature of 11,657 ft, the Kedarnath Yatra is both a lover's longing and an adventurer's fantasy. It is said that the Pandavas proceeded to assemble the Kedarnath holy place. You can see their references in the carvings on the outside dividers of the mandir. Adi Shankara later proceeded to assemble somewhat more around the sanctuary. Legends say that the Pandava siblings looked for ruler Shiva in atonement for having slaughtered their own kinfolk. Shiva, not willing to pardon their wrongdoings, covered up in Guptkashi.
