Methwani Meadow – Hidden Jewel in the Heart of Kashmir

Methwani Meadow – Hidden Jewel in the Heart of Kashmir

I have travelled through various well-known and well-liked meadows and have written travelogues about them, but today I will discuss one of the secret meadows in the Shopian district, which is close to the main town. a meadow in the middle of the Shopian forest block. Rambi-Ara river divides this meadow from Hirpora Wildlife Sanctuary and Mughal Road.

This hidden paradise is located in Shopian’s forest block, and it is where the local Bakerwal population spends the summers to gaze their cattle and other livestock. Methwani is located in the middle of the Padro Meadow, Dubgan Spring, and Hirpora Wildlife Sanctuary. This captivating location is surrounded by a number of secret meadows, some of which include Amakhal Meadow, Shepkhor Meadow, Walaikhaini Meadow, Poen Meadow, etc.

The Sunset Peak, also known as Romesh Thong, is a mountain massif with a peak elevation of 4,745 metres (15,568 feet), and Methwani Meadow is the prime location for those looking to summit it. Although the Budgam side is the most well-known path or hike to Sunset Peak, one can also reach the peak through Shopian and the gorgeous Methwani meadow.

How to plan a trip to Methwani Meadow

For any trek, preparation and planning are essential. This trek takes the same preparation as the others I’ve done. I’ve covered everything that has to be packed and planned before the trip for the purpose of this essay. I have thoroughly addressed every topic in this post, so read it through from beginning to end.

How to reach Methwani Meadow

Methwani meadow is 16 Kms from Shopian town. There are several ways to get there, but the one we took is the finest one, so I’ll mention it here.

At 11 a.m., we left the town of Shopian and travelled west. After crossing the District Police Line Shopian, we arrived in the village of Zawoora after travelling almost two kilometres. We then turned left and continued travelling for another 5 kilometres until we arrived in Niki Chanchmarg. Following that, we passed by Badrahama village, and at last, we arrived in Sarabal village, where we parked our bikes and went on foot.
