It is always a good idea to set up a passcode on your iPhone to protect your personal information from prying eyes. However, if you haven't used your iPhone in a long, you may forget the iPhone screen passcode. What should you do if you forget your iPhone's passcode?
Don't be concerned. In this article, we'll go through three techniques for unlocking your iPhone if you've forgotten the passcode. I hope one of them can assist you in regaining access to your iPhone.
1. Using iTunes or Finder (Computer Required)
A different way to unlock your iPhone is to use iTunes or the Finder. Because your iPhone is locked, iTunes and Finder do not recognize it. To unlock your iPhone on your computer, first boot it into Recovery mode. What you should do is as follows:
Step 1: Connect your iPhone to your Mac or PC.
Step 2: To enter recovery mode on your iPhone, perform the following steps:
1) iPhone 8 and up: Press and release the Volume Up button, then press and release the Volume Down button. Press and hold the Side button when the recovery mode screen appears.
2) iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus: To enter recovery mode, hold down the Side and Volume Down buttons while touching the Home button.
3) To enter recovery mode on an iPhone 6s or before, simultaneously press and hold the Side and Home buttons.
Step 3: If your iPhone successfully enters recovery mode, you will see one of the following windows:
Step 4: To restore your iPhone, open Finder on your Mac or iTunes on your PC and follow the on-screen instructions.
Step 5: After the repair procedure is complete, set your iPhone.
2. Using iCloud (Apple ID Required)
If you don't see the Security Lock screen or if your iPhone is running iOS 15.1 or earlier, iCloud may be your best hope for unlocking it.
Step 1: Go to iCloud.com/find right now.
Step 2: Access your iCloud account.
Step 3: Select the iPhone you want to unlock from the All Devices tab at the top.
Step 4: To deactivate Find My, select Erase iPhone and input your Apple ID password.
Step 5: Click Next and follow the on-screen directions to remove your iPhone.
Step 6: After the reset process is complete, set up your iPhone.
3. Using Erase iPhone (iOS 15 & Later)
Apple introduced a new feature called Security Lockout in iOS 15.2. It allows you to unlock your iPhone without using a computer or iTunes, and it is only available if Find My is enabled on your phone. After entering the incorrect passcode more than seven times, your iPhone will display the Security Lockout screen with a "Erase iPhone" option in the bottom right corner.
You must choose the Erase iPhone option to reset your iPhone. Here are the steps:
Step 1.Ensure that your iPhone is connected to a cellular or Wi-Fi network.
Step 2.After confirming your action the first time, tap Erase iPhone once more.
Step 3: Enter your Apple ID password to log out.
Step 4: Tap Erase iPhone to permanently delete all files and settings from your iPhone.
Now that you know how to unlock your iPhone if you forget your passcode, choose the method that works best for you.
You should be aware that all of the aforementioned methods will wipe your iPhone. If you haven't already, make a backup of your iPhone before proceeding with the reset processes.
