Chloe x Halle recently announced that they would be postponing the release of their new forthcoming album, Ungodly Hour, in solidarity of the Black lives that have been lost due to police brutality and racial violence.

“black lives matter!!!” the sister duo wrote in an Instagram post. “we’ll be postponing our album to June 12th in solidarity of all the beautiful black lives lost.”

In a video, the two sisters explained why they felt it was important to postpone their album. “So first and foremost, we just want to say we love you guys and over these past few days we have just been really angry and we’ve been hurting and physically shaken up over everything that’s been going on,” Chloe said.

“So with that being said my sister and I felt like it was only right to postpone our album that supposed to be coming out this Friday, June 5th, and will be moving it to June 12th. In honor of all of the lives lost due to police brutality we felt that it was only right to fully shine our attention and light on them.”

“Absolutely. Music has been used for a long time to bring us joy and healing in difficult times like this. That is why we are very excited to share it with you next week, on Friday because we’re going through this together,” Halle added.

“Emotionally this week we have been very up and down because of the black men that are in our family, our father, our little brother. We think of them when things like this happen, so we definitely just want to continue to shine the light on George Floyd and him getting the justice he deserves.”

Exactly, as well as Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and all of the beautiful black souls who have lost their lives. Without justice, there is no peace, and we are very proud of you for using your voices to make a change,” Chloe added.
