Fishing In Spring Season
Warmer temperatures and longer daylight hours are signs that bass will move from deeper to shallower waters in order to reproduce. The spawning season for bass is in early spring. To reproduce, the water must remain above 65 degrees. Spawning is usually done over several attempts. Bass will easily be caught near ditches, channel banks and other structures that divide shallow and deep waters.
Anglers should fish in 8- to 15-foot waters. This is the best water for bass fishing, since this is where they will congregate while waiting for warmer temperatures. Texas and Carolina rigs, along with crankbaits are best for this depth. Floating lizards or worms work well during the spawn, which is in mid-late April.
