Spring Bass Fishing Tips

Warm waters and the beginning of spawning can transform lazy winter bass into feeding machines. After a long winter, spring bass fishing can be one the best times to fish.

Bass can be extremely protective of their territory and nests. You can lure them with a bait that looks like a predator for their eggs (such as a bluegill), and they might be more interested in scaring it away than eating your food.

These simple tips will help you improve your spring bass fishing.

  • Keep your eyes open for warmer and deeper water, even if it is cold. As the weather warms, bass will migrate to the shallows. It is crucial to know when to move in order to have a successful day of fishing.
  • Fish the area after you have had a bite. There are usually more fish around.
  • Don't assume that the fish will be in the exact same spot as yesterday because of rapid temperature fluctuations
  • Use big lures - big lures catch big bass
  • You should look for areas where warm water is escaping into large bodies of cold water. This may attract bait fish, and thus the bass.
  • Buy a pair of good polarized sunglasses. This will allow you to see the bait fish that the bass are eating and help you mimic it with your lure.
  • Keep quiet - Bass eyes should be facing up. They can easily get scared if there is too much movement or noise.
