Winter Bass Fishing Tips
The winter metabolism of bass is slower than in summer, but that doesn't mean you can't fish. Although the bite is slower in winter than summer, the fish will still be there and need to eat.
Although you may have to work harder to get that bite, the bass are still at their best as they prepare for winter.
- To imitate dead bait fish, use a bottom hugging lure
- Slowly move your lure - this mimics the speed of the cold bait fish
- The shallow eddies are a good place to target bait fish as the water is hotter than deep lakes.
- Structures of 15-20 feet are a good target - deeper water has a more stable temperature
- Trust your fish finder, bass will gather around the bait fish
- You have to be patient. Bass don't feed as often as they did in the summertime. Don't lose heart if you still haven't had any bites.
- For a more enjoyable fishing day, get a warm and waterproof jacket.
