Lures For Night Walleye Fishing
Walleyes eat primarily baitfish so you can fish with minnow-imitating crankbaits or live minnows. Minnow-tipped and minnow imitating crankbaits are the best lures for night fishing for walleye.
Vertical jigging: This is a great technique to learn how to catch walleye in deeper waters at night. Walleye fishing is easy and effective with a minnow-tipped bait jig. A 1/4-ounce or 3/8 ounce jig can be used. If you fish in deeper waters or have more current, a heavier jig will work better. Your rod tip can be used to lift your jig up to a foot.
Casting or trolling with shallow-running crankbaits that mimic minnows are possible using these crankbaits. These lures are great for night fishing for walleye, as they can cover large areas and help you locate the fish quickly. Start at 20 feet deep water and then work your way down to the shallows.
