Fishing in Autumn Season
According to the World Fishing Network, fall is "The Second Season" of bass fishing. The nights are longer and the temperatures are cooler, but there are less boats on the water. Many anglers are at home hunting or watching football.
Bass fishermen in the early fall should concentrate on areas that have weeds near shallower, open waters. When temperatures drop, bass use the weeds to cover themselves. During this time of the year, most bass will be in shallow-to-mid-depth waters. Because of the rapid temperature changes bass experience, you may be able put anything on a hook to get a bite some days, but others will be very quiet. The feeding frenzy begins on the first cold night of each year.
Deep-diving crankbaits, slow-rolled spinnerbaits, and deep-diving crankbaits work well around timber lines and drop off points in the water. Also, lizards and plastic worms work well. Spinnerbaits and crankbaits should be of white color, while spinnerbaits must be either red or pumpkin.
