With a career spanning 60 years, Scorpions have left a lasting mark on global rock music. Formed in Hanover in 1965 by guitarist Rudolf Schenker, the band steadily rose from local performances to global stardom. A major turning point came in 1969 when Klaus Meine joined as lead vocalist, shaping the band’s signature sound. Albums like Lonesome Crow (1972) and Fly to the Rainbow (1974) displayed their early creative range, while guitarist Uli Jon Roth's addition guided them into more melodic hard rock territory with Virgin Killer (1976) and Taken by Force (1977).
The band achieved major international success with Lovedrive in 1979, marking the debut of guitarist Matthias Jabs. Featuring tracks like “Holiday” and “Always Somewhere,” the album catapulted them to global recognition. The 1980s were a golden period for Scorpions, marked by multiple platinum releases.
In 1990, they released Crazy World, which included the anthemic “Wind of Change,” a song that became a defining soundtrack to the political shifts of the era. The following year, Scorpions received the World Music Award as the most successful German rock band. The 1990s saw them exploring new directions with albums like Face the Heat (1993) and Pure Instinct (1996).
The 2000s brought continued momentum with the release of Unbreakable (2004) and Sting in the Tail (2010). Though they once announced their retirement, the band made a powerful comeback with Return to Forever (2015) and Rock Believer (2022), further solidifying their place in rock history. Their music continues to resonate with fans of all generations worldwide.
Joining them on stage in Abu Dhabi will be the legendary British metal band Judas Priest, whose pioneering sound helped shape heavy metal in the 1970s. Together, these two titans of rock will deliver an unforgettable concert experience.
