My IFF/Marker suggestions for T3
I understand the intention with the current IFFs, but I find those to be too obstructing, seeing all this clutter on my screen has already cost me some kills. Here's how I would make it better. A quick note on the small dots — I don't need to see all of the Base Asset icons at all times! I only need to see them when I'm close enough to the enemy base, when they are in my direct line of sight while I'm zooming in, or when I point at them with my crosshair for, let's say, 1 full second. Also, since all vets already know what to do and where everything is, at some point they should be able to take the training wheels off — in T:A you could press O.
You should be able to press O (like in T:A) or some other key to toggle the Pro mode, so your screen would look even cleaner:
Since the flag icons are the most important thing in CTF, they are supposed to be always on top of everything, even the players. The hierarchy should look like this IMO: Flags -> Players -> Flag Stands -> Generator -> Other Base Assets. The flag icon itself must always be on top, but everything else related to it — not. Here's a demo of a player IFF overlapping with the flag icon:
I don't know if it's me or others would agree, but this "pulse" animation doesn't work as intended on me, it's supposed draw my eye to the flag, but instead my eye is just following the pulse wave away from the flag:
I think that this is a simpler and a more effective solution:
The Base Asset icon should be above and the Dot should be directly in the middle of the base asset (like the rhombus in T:A) — it should act like a target to shoot at:
