Senior Backend Engineer (Node.js/Java)

RELOCATION TO GERMANY OR REMOTE FROM GERMANY

Location: Must be based in or willing to relocate to Berlin, Germany. The role requires at least 80% on-site presence in the Berlin office, with 20% flexibility for remote work within Germany.

What you will do

• Drive the migration of legacy services to a modern architecture using Node.js.
• Own backend components within a cross-functional team to deliver end-to-end features.
• Design and implement REST APIs on AWS infrastructure.
• Monitor production services to ensure high performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Collaborate with product managers and frontend engineers to ship high-quality features.
• Utilize AI tools and agentic workflows to maximize development productivity.

Requirements

• Fluent in English (spoken and written).
• Strong experience in Node.js and/or Java 21+ (Spring Boot).
• Hands-on experience with AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Proficiency with PostgreSQL and Elasticsearch.
• Experience with distributed systems, microservices, and inter-service communication.
• Must be able to work on-site in Berlin at least 80% of the time.

Nice to have

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with AI copilots and LLM agents.
• Bachelor or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
