Story protocol ecosystem review
Story Protocol is a blockchain platform that helps people manage copyrights for their creative works, such as books, images, games, and audio, in a secure and decentralized environment.
Recently, the platform released an update called Odyssey, which brought many improvements:
- New partners: Around 100 projects are now collaborating with the platform, creating useful applications to expand its capabilities.
- Simplified rights management: The platform has improved its system for managing copyrights, making it easier to track the origin of a work, issue licenses, and share revenue.
- Support for different types of content: Users can easily manage copyrights for various creative formats, whether text, images, music, or games.
- Faster data processing: The platform has become better at handling data, allowing for quicker and more cost-effective processing of large amounts of information.
- Developer tools: New, user-friendly tools and documentation are available, making it simpler for developers to build applications on the platform.
These changes make the platform more flexible and user-friendly for both creators and developers, helping them better manage their works and earn from them.
In addition to the previously mentioned enhancements, the Odyssey update for Story Protocol introduces several notable improvements:
- Enhanced Developer Experience: The platform now offers a more developer-friendly environment with comprehensive documentation and support, facilitating the creation and integration of applications within the Story Protocol ecosystem.
- Advanced IP Graph Structures: Story Protocol has optimized its infrastructure to efficiently handle complex IP graph structures, enabling faster and more cost-effective processing of intricate data relationships.
- Improved Consensus Mechanism: The platform has adopted a mature consensus layer based on the CometBFT stack, ensuring rapid finality and low-cost transactions, thereby enhancing overall network performance.
- Modular Architecture: By decoupling consensus from execution through Ethereum’s Engine-API, Story Protocol achieves greater flexibility and scalability, allowing for more efficient network operations.
These advancements collectively contribute to a more robust and efficient platform, benefiting both creators and developers in managing and monetizing their intellectual property.
Ecosystem projects
The Story Protocol ecosystem page features several projects showcasing the platform's capabilities:
- Magma: A collaborative digital art platform with over 3 million users. It uses Story’s programmable IP features to ensure authorship, allow permitted remixing, and provide fair compensation in collaborative projects.
- Mahojin: An AI-based remix layer integrating generative AI capabilities into third-party applications. It offers an innovative interface for users to create high-quality images and provides AI creators with tools for IP tracking and fair revenue distribution.
- Sekai: An AI-powered story creation platform that enables writers, artists, and fans to co-create interactive stories through simple prompts. IP owners can set participation rules and monetization models.
- Ablo: A project by Space Runners allowing users to customize and remix fashion items using generative AI tools, opening new monetization models for celebrities, designers, and brands. It collaborates with brands like Balmain Paris, Pangaia, Dolce & Gabbana, and Smiley.
These projects highlight how Story Protocol fosters innovation across art, AI, storytelling, and fashion by providing creators and developers with tools to efficiently manage and monetize their intellectual property. Full list of projects: https://www.story.foundation/ecosystem
How to take part in the testnet Odyssey
To participate in the Odyssey testnet by Story Protocol, follow these steps:
- Set up a wallet:
- Install MetaMask or another compatible wallet.
- Add the Story Odyssey Testnet network manually with the following parameters:
- Network Name: Story Odyssey Testnet
- RPC URL: https://odyssey.storyrpc.io
- Chain ID: 1516
- Currency Symbol: IP
- Block Explorer URL: https://explorer.story.foundation/
- Get test tokens:
- Visit the Story Odyssey Faucet and request test IP tokens to interact with the network.
- Engage with the ecosystem:
- Go to the Story Protocol ecosystem and choose projects to interact with.
- Complete tasks such as:
- Earn badges:
- You can earn badges for completing specific tasks, confirming your participation in the testnet.
- Keep an eye on updates on the official Story Protocol website and their social media channels for new tasks and opportunities.
Note: Some tasks may require a certain level of a Gitcoin Passport. It’s recommended to check the requirements of each project before engaging.
There are projects that have a set time for receiving badges, so we recommend completing them first.
- Sekai - Go to the project's website and click the "view invitation" button. After that, a window with tasks will open, which you need to complete to earn the badge. At the time of writing, available tasks include viewing stories and following on Twitter. Once all tasks are completed, you will be able to mint and receive the badge.
- Playrts - Go to the website, and you will see a window with tasks. To start completing any of these tasks, simply click the button on the right:
- Register on PlayArtsAI and join the journey. You need to enter your email address during the sign-in process.
- Generate your art from the Generative AI Model.
- Remix on PlayArtsAI.
- Follow PlayArtsAI on X.
- Retweet our announcement tweet.
- Join the PlayArtsAI Telegram.
Once you have completed all these tasks, you will be able to receive your badge. Please note that the project has a deadline of 11 days (at the time of writing).
3. Punkga - Go to the website and click the "Enroll now" button, then connect your MetaMask wallet. After that, a list of tasks will become available. They are very simple and mostly related to Twitter (follows, reposts, etc.). Once you have completed 10 tasks, you will be able to mint and receive your badge.
4. Koni Stori - Go to the Telegram bot and complete all the available tasks, which mainly involve viewing and subscribing to social media accounts and projects within the Story Protocol ecosystem. Be sure to watch for announcements, as there is a tab in the bot that will be opened soon, allowing you to receive a badge.
5. Colormp - This project will require a bit more time and IP tokens. We go to the website and see all the criteria that need to be met in order to receive the badge.
The first set of tasks is related to social media and shouldn’t cause any problems; just complete the follows, and the tasks will be counted.
In the second set, you need to mint an NFT.
All the remaining tasks are completed using this NFT. Go to your collection and select the NFT you received. You will see buttons for licensing, listing, and more. Once you complete all the tasks, you will be able to earn the badge.
Please note that for the task where you need to purchase a license or NFT, only those with a cost of 1 or more IP tokens will be counted. 6. Solo - Personally, I really liked this project. It has a pretty interesting concept. We go to the website and complete tasks, just the way we like it. We need to follow on Twitter and create a few audio pieces.
7. Verio - The next project has similar tasks related to subscriptions, but it also includes technical tasks.
Proceed to complete the task related to restaking. To get the vIP token, go to the staking tab at staking and exchange your IP token. After that, you can go to the catalog and add the vIP token to each object. You need to add it to 5 objects in total for the task to be considered complete.
In this way, we engage with the Story Protocol ecosystem. Earning badges for completing tasks and contributing to the development of such a project is not difficult. You can find the full list of available partners here: https://www.story.foundation/ecosystem.
Remember, this is not the only way to participate. There are also Discord roles, various types of contributions, an ambassador program, and a validator program.
On our website, you can find a guide on setting up a validator node: https://crouton.digital/services/testnets/storyprotocol.
