Create videos Online and Fast. Video Maker platform research and promo post tactics.

Research

Wave.video is an online video editor that allows you to create video content for social media quite fast and without specific training for it. It provides various templates for popular social media sites and ready-to-use ideas structured for daily content.

Goals:

  1. Promote the post-https://wave.video/blog/content-marketing-for-saas/ from Wave.video blog to engage with the audience on Facebook, Instagram stories, LinkedIn and Pinterest.
  2. Create a series of video posts using the platform itself for one or more of the following goals:
  • Educate the audience about of Wave.video
  • Drive traffic to the site
  • Associate Wave.video brand with top-notch expertise in social media marketing
  • Collect leads interested in learning more about Wave.video services
  • Recruit others to evangelize the brand

Let's start with the audience and select a few groups that we will target with this content.

As the article doesn't directly promote the platform, we will try not to focus on its content so much and use just a few the most important moments that, as I think, would suit the best for each social media platform.

Audiences:

  1. Social media managers with limited/no access to video makers help that need to create content by themselves
  2. Small/startup brand's managers/owners with no social media or content creation experience
  3. Bloggers and creators that are unable to create professional videos for their platforms due to the lack of experience or/and time.

All of the groups above are mostly women, 18-35 years old.

Content for social media

I used a free subscription to dive into the platform as a very regular user and experience fully what platform gives for the beginner.

Note: Please watch each video individually via the link under the screenshots as it can't be downloaded on a free version.

Instagram stories

Let's say, we take the key moments for Instagram stories like the numbers. "5 Steps to Success" sounds good for promoting on Instagram Stories. As this is the fastest platform where people spend the least amount of time to view content, we have to be catchy and direct.

I've also decided to change the brand's light blue color to yellow, as I think it will catch more attention.

Facebook

I wrote a copy for the Facebook feed content to be structured and highlight all the most important KSPs.

LinkedIn

For LinkedIn people tend to spend more time viewing content, but they might be unable to listen with a sound at the workplace, so I've decided to make a series of slides teasing for reading the blog article.

It is important for LinkedIn to use hashtags and the link in the copy can be tracked with bit.ly

Pinterest

Pinterest content doesn't have any copy and mostly targeted to viewers searching for visuals, so I've used a different style for the fonts, more pleasing and relaxing content.

Notes on the research and the platform.

Previously I had to use another similar platform and wave.video has a few quite significant differences that were really annoying for me.

  1. The website was glitchy, I can't say if it was due to the fact that I had to use it with VPN in order to make it work or it is like this. Sometimes I had to redo my work a few times just because the platform didn't respond in the same way as it did 5 minutes ago.
  2. It was very pity to find that I can't use it on mobile.
  3. Some fonts didn't have capital letters, even the fonts that were used in a template (proposed by the platform itself).
  4. The author of the article, Mile Živković, is from Serbia. And I for sure wanted to keep her name written correctly. However, I was unable to easily find a suitable font for it. The language option didn't have any of the eastern European special symbols. So I had to specifically Google and found that Vietnamese fonts might work, but in fact, not all of them did. I ended up using not the font that I wanted to use.
  5. Fonts, in general, were a problem, it reminded me about the time when I just started to work as a designer and downloaded a pack of fonts that was called "1000+ free fonts". Some of them are really outdated.
  6. Fonts don't have an arrangement by "popular" and use just an alphabetical arrangement - definitely not what any of the social media marketers would be happy about.
  7. The music in the videos was hard to edit, it was not easy to cut the beginning of the track as it would always glitch and start the track from the beginning. And it was hard to find a suitable track that would end on a high note at the end of my video.
  8. I wanted to make some text appear on a beat, it was impossible to make as the visual line of a track doesn't represent the beat as much, it was very hard to recognize where the text should go.
  9. Moving content in the editor's field was hard in general. Most of the time I would struggle to make the length of the element's appearance as I want it to be. The length of the transitions can't be edited.
