What is a Demat Account?

Initially, stocks and shares were exchanged through real receipts called certificates. However, this resulted in lengthy paperwork and time consuming. To respond to this and take advantage of the e-trading platform that is gaining attention in Western and Asian markets, the stock's dematization process began in 1996. The price has been deposited into the investor's demat account. Thus, the emergence of trading began in this way.

In a simpler approach, the demat account opening allows investors to conveniently buy and sell not only stocks and shares, but also other commodities, without any kind of paperwork.
