When a new designer doesn't know the pitfalls to avoid or the ideal concepts to partake in, they will struggle to create the best work possible. While some may be simple to understand, others could prove more complex. This article addresses some of the most common mistakes and even missed opportunities in the world of design.
Idea 1: Simplicity Since many of the most current well-known designs are modern, simplicity is important if you wish to demonstrate that you are keeping up with the times. Keep everything simple and efficient. You shouldn't overwork or clutter the design, as it may introduce an unprofessional tone. Incorporating less intricate elements, such as 3D charts & shadow effects, will help you keep the design more simplistic. You can still use them, but you shouldn't overuse it as it may lead to having cluttered work. You don't want that!
Idea 2: Perfect Visuals Illustration can be hard to get on point when adding it to your canvas. The main illusion that you need to pass out the window would be that you shouldn't enhance the content. Even when going for a "playful style", you should still visualize in a good way. The biggest don't in having the perfect visuals is to not go more complicated than you can!
Idea 3: Use the space! A decent design must have adequate spacing to avoid looking cluttered. It is advantageous since you can effectively affect someone both visually and mentally! When controlling your space, the primary thing to avoid doing is trying to cram everything in since you don't think it will fit correctly. You can always resize the content afterwards, so don't start out by cramming it all in. A design's "empty" spaces can be just as essential as the spaces that you fill.
Idea 4: Colour
Choosing the right colour scheme for your artwork can be challenging. A crucial element is using the suitable colour, workable shades, and appropriate amount of colours. The fundamental rule for adding colour to your work is to utilise no more than five colours, as doing so may cause strain and reduce legibility for the audience. A multitude of colours may also make it look overcrowded, unless that's
your intent!
Idea 5: Typography
Font is one of the most crucial element in a piece of artwork to create the correct atmosphere and feel. There are a few simple rules to maintain when it comes to selecting & curating suitable fonts for your project.
1. Don't mix fonts!
2. Make it 100% readable!
3. You need to space the font correctly.
