Before we get started, don't forget to visit Design Academy aka the official discord server for exclusive articles, memberships and more.

If you're good at creating imaginative methods or items and want to share your passion with others, a design job is the route to follow. You can happily become a designer at any stage in your career, just think of how many people started out just like you. Design is a job that you will grow on as you do it, there are no specific requirements to pursue your career as a designer, you just need to be able to grow your skill set and understand the key fundamentals of Design and the World Of Artistry.

Step 1: Choose your specialty The phrase "Design Jobs" is most likely way more than you think. Of course there are the common ones but there are some roles that tie into design maybe differently than you thought. The most valued specialisms in design include:

Step 2: Discover your preferences Once you start gathering ideas you should do the same with personal preferences, as you settle in with the position of your choosing you shall begin to master your own aesthetics. Below are some notes in ways you can develop your preferences in a professional tone.

Note movements you like or dislike Always develop your preference before creating. Don't rely on software. This could prevent originality.

Step 3: Build a portfolio Building a portfolio is a big step into getting your name and work out there. Portfolios help show experience and will get commissioners to value your work more professionally. To build experience, try offering free design services and get people to honestly review & criticize what you've done for them. If its good, then use it against your portfolio. When creating your own portfolio make sure to focus on what your clients would want and what is necessary for them whilst including work that shares your imagination and the path you wish to follow.

Step 4: Start. Showcase. Repeat. Once you’ve prepped all the steps so far, start creating work based on what you enjoy and prefer. The more projects you indulge into the more you are likely to succeed and gain valuable skills. Share your work with other designers who aspire to be like you. Show your friends & family. Post & promote over Social Media. Adapt your work and confer with connections once again. Conferring with other professionals gives you the opportunity to feel confident in your own abilities like being able to debate openly.
You will typically lean on the opinions of your clients, and not yourself and them. This is why having confidence in critiquing your own work and the work of others is vital.
