Step 1: How do we define 'Web Accessibility'?

When you design websites, there are some important things you should always remember. One of them being accessibility! It's simply a set of rules we use to build websites that are accessible for users with disabilities, such as colour blindness. Web accessibility aims to remove barriers to access and ensure that all users have an equal opportunity to participate in the site.

Step 2: The crucial importance of accessibility!

Accessibility is a critical consideration for website builders, engineers, and other digital creators. We will tend to think about disability, but accessibility itself is much more, not all things that we do are to benefit those with disabilities, you shouldn't outline anyone from the site.

Step 3: Key Principles of Web Accessibility

Visibility - It's quite important your users can understand of the information on your website. When it comes to visibility, make sure it would be apparent to people with require extra help like people who require screen reader software.

Understandable - You should ensure that the content within your website is easy to interpret and readable, while the structure and layout will also allow for easy navigation.

Functional - It's understandable that websites will experience things like downtime, but you should still take into account that users should be able to utilize the functionality of your whole site. Typically, builders & engineers have taken the route of keeping sites simple, to make it more lenient for the user.

Step 4: Checking the accessibility of your site

To make testing for accessibility easier, start doing it when your project is still in the development process. It is always better to identify flaws in your site earlier so they can be resolved more efficiently and so they won't ruin your sites reputation.

1. Wave is an easy & versatile tool for website developers. It can identify flaws and problems from deep inside your site and find a healthy solution. In addition, it also gives you key information of what can be changed for better accessibility.

2. TAW is an application that aims to clearly evaluate web pages and identify any ongoing accessibility issues. This tool is mainly used to test compliance with accessibility standards and to generate reports on it's reference to the idea of Web Accessibility.
