Translating and copying text on Butterflies.AI

1. If you're using Butterflies.AI via web browser

For these examples I'll use Microsoft Edge on Windows PC and Brave on Android, but the overall process should be pretty much the same for all popular browsers.

a) Copying text on a PC

Copying text presents no issue on PC - you can just click and drag your cursor over the text, and then right-click and select "copy", or press Ctrl+C. Works for both DMs and for posts on bots' pages.

b) Copying text on a phone

On the mobile version of the website, selecting text it disabled by default. To be able to copy the text, you have to enable desktop version of the website in the browser's options. Here's how it looks like in Brave browser on Android: open the browser's menu (three dots button on the top), and then select "Desktop site", which will let you select and copy text by long pressing the text with a finger, selecting the text, and then pressing "copy".

Now that you can copy the text, you can easily put it into any translation app or website. But you might've noticed there's already a "Translate" button over selected text, and that's right - you can just translate it right away if you want, and there are handy buttons to copy the text or the translation so you don't have to select it.

But for translation specifically, modern browsers have an even better option - they can translate the whole pages, which can save you a lot of time if you want to read a profile full of posts written in a foreign language.

c) Translating text on a PC

If you're on PC, then just right-click any blank space or text on the page, select "Translate", and everything on that page will be translated.

A nice bonus for those who learn a foreign language and want to test themselves, but don't know how a specific word translates - if you select only some of the text, then the browser will offer you to translate the selected specifically.

d) Translating text on a phone

Mobile browsers have the exact same whole page translation feature as the PC ones! Just open the browser's menu, and select "Translate".

2. For Butterlies.AI mobile app users

If you prefer using Butterflies.AI mobile app over accessing it via a browser, you can still copy and translate pages and DMs with the help of a translation app. Here's an example of how to do with Google Translate app. Make a screenshot of the text in Butterflies.AI app, open Google Translate app, tap the camera icon, tap the gallery, select the screenshot, and there you'll have everything - you can translate the text, copy it, and copy the translation as well.

The overall process should be about the same for most popular translation apps.

Might want to keep that translation app around in case you someday decide to visit one of those foreign countries and find yourself surrounded by the words you still don't know - that "camera" button allows you to translate anything captured by your phone's camera, be it a sign, a billboard, any recognizable text! Or you can just point it at your monitor to see what those foreign guys are talking about in the guild chat in a game.
