[2] GORUCK Stealth/Urban: What to expect

Are you ready to train?

- Are you able to do 20/25 burpees, push-ups or squats?

- Do you know all the glyph names by heart?

- Can you walk with 12kg+ in your backpack (this is rucking!) for some hours?

- Are you ready to train for weeks to crush the Resistance in a physical and mental competitions?

GORUCK x Ingress events are perfect opportunities to exceed your limits in a physical and mental team competition. These events are life-changers since a change in your habits is the very base to start training and succeed in their completion.

PT (Physical Training) aka exercises

Here a list of usual PTs, ask in groups if any doubt:

  • Push-ups (normal and hand release/dead stop)
  • Jumping jacks
  • Lunges (forward, side, backwards)
  • Squats
  • Planks
  • Flutter Kicks
  • Sit Ups
  • Overhead ruck presses
  • Dead lifts
  • Ruck Swings
  • Cherry pickers (feet spread apart, reach down and touch ground three times, each time closer to self)
  • Carrying casualties (a team member has to be carried, rucksack apart too)

Known past Challenges/Competitions

Let's start with the most common ones, likely to be repeated:

  • Strongest Portal: Last man standing or number of members of team after X time
    • Overhead Ruck Hold
    • Overhead One Hand Ruck Hold
    • Front One Hand Ruck Hold
    • Overhead Ruck Hold by pairs (other rucksack to be hold by one too)
    • Plank Hold
    • Straight Legs Hold 6 inches / 15 cm
  • Ruck/Coupon Passing Relay Race AKA Slinky Ruck Passing
    • Multiple versions of this: starting with rucks on/off, doing it in circles or lines, rucksacks/coupons attached between them with carabiners, etc.
  • Shuttle/Relay Running Race (w/ or w/o rucksacks, running forward or backwards)
  • Tunnel of Love (can be done while wearing rucksack or pushing rucksack through the tunnel) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQwo2UbziB8
  • Bear Crawl Relay Race
  • Crab Crawl Relay Race
  • Piggyback Ride Relay Race
  • Crowdsurfing: All team members except one lay down shoulder to shoulder and stretch out their arms. The missing one has to be passed while staying tight as a stick, dragged from one side to the other.
  • Stair Climb Race
  • Glyph Name Guessing (All vs All or 1 vs 1, with physical fatigue like running/climbing stairs before)
  • Glyph Drawing Competition (Glyph grid made with rucksacks and bodies makes the lines, drawing them in the sand before a relay race, etc.)

The following challenges occurred less times, so we cannot guarantee they'll be repeated:

  • Crab Crawling Football
  • Holding Breath Underwater
  • Portal deploy by all team agents, run to it, screenshot and get back, all together
  • General/local culture trivia (dates and names)
