[2] GORUCK Stealth/Urban: What to expect
Are you ready to train?
- Are you able to do 20/25 burpees, push-ups or squats?
- Do you know all the glyph names by heart?
- Can you walk with 12kg+ in your backpack (this is rucking!) for some hours?
- Are you ready to train for weeks to crush the Resistance in a physical and mental competitions?
GORUCK x Ingress events are perfect opportunities to exceed your limits in a physical and mental team competition. These events are life-changers since a change in your habits is the very base to start training and succeed in their completion.
PT (Physical Training) aka exercises
Here a list of usual PTs, ask in groups if any doubt:
- Push-ups (normal and hand release/dead stop)
- Jumping jacks
- Lunges (forward, side, backwards)
- Squats
- Planks
- Flutter Kicks
- Sit Ups
- Overhead ruck presses
- Dead lifts
- Ruck Swings
- Cherry pickers (feet spread apart, reach down and touch ground three times, each time closer to self)
- Carrying casualties (a team member has to be carried, rucksack apart too)
Known past Challenges/Competitions
Let's start with the most common ones, likely to be repeated:
- Strongest Portal: Last man standing or number of members of team after X time
- Overhead Ruck Hold
- Overhead One Hand Ruck Hold
- Front One Hand Ruck Hold
- Overhead Ruck Hold by pairs (other rucksack to be hold by one too)
- Ruck/Coupon Passing Relay Race AKA Slinky Ruck Passing
- Multiple versions of this: starting with rucks on/off, doing it in circles or lines, rucksacks/coupons attached between them with carabiners, etc.
- Shuttle/Relay Running Race (w/ or w/o rucksacks, running forward or backwards)
- Tunnel of Love (can be done while wearing rucksack or pushing rucksack through the tunnel) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQwo2UbziB8
- Bear Crawl Relay Race
- Crab Crawl Relay Race
- Piggyback Ride Relay Race
- Crowdsurfing: All team members except one lay down shoulder to shoulder and stretch out their arms. The missing one has to be passed while staying tight as a stick, dragged from one side to the other.
- Stair Climb Race
- Glyph Name Guessing (All vs All or 1 vs 1, with physical fatigue like running/climbing stairs before)
- Glyph Drawing Competition (Glyph grid made with rucksacks and bodies makes the lines, drawing them in the sand before a relay race, etc.)
The following challenges occurred less times, so we cannot guarantee they'll be repeated:
- Crab Crawling Football
- Holding Breath Underwater
- Portal deploy by all team agents, run to it, screenshot and get back, all together
- General/local culture trivia (dates and names)
