My Favorite Meditation To Bring Clarity, Peace, And Power To Your Magick Β© E.A. Koetting

Today, I'd like to share a simple meditation technique with you. When I say simple, I want to make it clear that I don't mean cheap, powerless, or ineffective. A lot of people think that if something is simple, it's too easy to be true. With magick, as with a lot of things, the simplest ways are usually the most powerful.

A Simple Breathing Practice First

The method that I'm going to teach you here is a simple breathing practice. You can do this meditation no matter where you are. You don't need special candles, special incense, or even special knowledge. All you need is your breath, a thing that we all have, use constantly, and most of the time take for granted. All you're going to do throughout this meditation is turn your attention to your breath.

Let me break it down a little bit and give you some specifics. First of all, whenever I'm actually sitting down to meditate, I notice that I have a lot of extra physical energy. No matter what time of day it is for me, I notice that when I begin meditating, I feel a lot of anxiety and energy building up throughout my body. If this is the case for you, go ahead and wiggle it out. Just shake around, letting yourself release all of your built-up energy and frustration so that you can release and relax. Keep in mind that it's also completely fine to move and adjust yourself during meditation. Many people think that these things take you away from the meditation, when in reality, getting distracted and turning your mind back to the meditation is part of the process. Moving around a bit, adjusting yourself to a more comfortable position, and entering back into the meditation allows your mind and body to enter into a more perfect place, adding to the meditation.

You can meditate in any position that you like, but I prefer to sit down. Many people lay down to meditate, but I avoid this simply because I want to make sure that I don't fall asleep. Sitting up allows me to still relax while keeping my mind and body alert and focused on the meditation. But if laying down works better for you, lay down. As long as you are approaching meditation, there's no wrong way of doing it. It is impossible to fail at meditation. Even if you struggle the entire time, you're still meditating. Meditation isn't something that you either do right or do wrong. It's something that you either do or don't do.

Expel The "Particles Of Tension"

After you have shaken out any anxiety or tension that you're feeling, simply begin to focus on breathing. As you consciously bring your attention to your breath, you will automatically begin to start breathing a little differently. It's a good idea to give yourself a couple of minutes of breathing to let this become natural, turning your conscious attention to your breath. If you're able to, inhale through your nose, and exhale through your mouth. Don't try to breathe any more deeply than you normally do. Let yourself take a few breaths until you can feel that your breath is getting into a perfect rhythm. You're not forcing it, you're just noticing it.

If you feel extra tension still lingering within you, you can use this little trick, which I don't recommend doing for the entire meditation. Simply inhale and hold your breath, imagining that your breath itself is reaching into every part of your being and finding that tension, locking on to it. Imagine that the air particles themselves are locking on to the tension. As you exhale, tilt your head back and give a good strong exhalation. You can feel that the tension floods right away from you. As you inhale, inhale fresh, calm energy to replace all the tension that was previously within you.

It's extremely helpful to set a timer for meditation, whether this is just a little egg timer or a timer on your phone. If you're new to meditation or if you've been struggling with it, I'm going to recommend only five minutes to start. One of the biggest obstacles almost everyone has when it comes to meditation is that we feel like we're failing our develops in our minds. Even though we might be doing it perfectly right, we think that we're not, that we aren't measuring up to someone else's meditation. We feel like maybe we could go deeper, or it could be better, and that we're not doing it well enough. By all these ways of failing ourselves in our own minds, we think that we're failing the meditation. This only builds up an internal ecosystem of failure. If we're not able to turn that around and understand that we are actually succeeding, that failure can permeate all of our spirituality. Set your expectations realistically. Most of us are very busy with life. Most of us have a lot of things to do, and we don't have an hour to sit and meditate. Just five minutes can make a world of difference.

From This Place Of Peaceful Silence, You Can Accomplish Anything

Set your egg timer or phone in a place where you won't be tempted to glance at how long you've been meditating. Time passes differently in meditation, and separating yourself from the normal perception of time is key. Set your timer for five minutes, and simply let yourself breathe. Remember that you are not trying to do anything. This is the main point of meditation. You cease trying and you cease doing, and you return to simply being. Just being is enough. You don't have to push yourself to do anything more than just being.

If you're brand new to this, your first day of meditation is probably not going to be spectacular. For most of us, the first few days of meditation are the beginning of setting a discipline. After just a few sessions though, you'll begin to notice how good it feels to simply sit and focus on your breath. You will begin to notice that simply existing is enough in this moment. As you do to this repeatedly, continually bringing your attention to your breath, you train your mind to shut up. You train your emotions to smooth out, and you train your emotions to return to peace.

From this place of peaceful silence, you can accomplish anything. If you're having a hard time with magick, with clairvoyance, with divination, or anything else in the spirit realm, simply bring your practice back to meditation. Bring yourself back to that silent, calm, peaceful place. Just a few moments of meditation will clear your entire reality of all the unnecessary chatter.

I'll challenge you now to finish reading this newsletter, set a timer for just five minutes, and simply breathe. Every time you get distracted, bring your attention back to your breath. It really is that simple, and it is one of the most powerful things that you can do, not only for your spirituality and your magick, but also for your health and mind. As you train your mind to return to your breath, you are training your mind to obey you. You're training your emotions to obey you. And what is this β€œyou” that is being obeyed? It is the great You, the center that is able to sit, to be, and know that that is enough.
