Ingredients needed for pita bread

  • About 4 glasses of white flour
  • 1/2 glass of milk
  • 1/2 glass of yogurt
  • 2 table spoons of liquid oil
  • 1 table spoon of instant dough yeast
  • 1/2 glass of lukewarm water
  • 1 table spoon of sugar
  • 1 tea spoon of salt.

The recipe of pita bread

First phase

First mix lukewarm water with sugar and dough yeast in a suitable dish and put the lid on, and then put it in a suitable place for 10 minutes so the surface of the ingredients becomes bubbly and the dough becomes puffy.

Second phase

In this phase pour yogurt with milk, liquid oil and salt in a suitable dish and mix them with a hand mixer so that it becomes even, next add the prepared dough yeast and mix them until they’re even.

Third phase

Wisk the flour 2 times, then add it to the ingredients little by little and mix them so the dough is collected, pay attention that the dough must be a bit sticky and don’t add too much flour because it’ll make the dough hard and dry.

Fourth phase

In order for the dough not to stick to our hands grease your hand a bit, then shape the dough into a circle and put it in a dish that you’ve greased it before and cover it with cellophane and place it in a warm place so the dough rests.

Fifth phase

After an hour the amount of the dough becomes twice as big as the original size, now place the dough in the surface of the kitchen board and knead it so the extra amount of air is removed from it. Now split the dough into 10 equal pieces and roll them.

Sixth phase

Now the rolls must rest for 10 minutes, in order for the dough not to become dry, cover them with a clean piece of cloth. After 10 minutes spread the rolls with a rolling pin on an oil paper and again cover them with a piece of cloth so that they rest for another 10 minutes.

Seventh phase

While the dough is being prepared, turn the oven on 220 degrees to heat it up. After 10 minutes, cut off the edges of the oil papers and place the dough on the tray of the oven and place it in the heated oven.

Eighth phase

About 10 to 15 minutes are needed so the breads are cooked completely. After cooking the breads is finished, remove them from oven and put them aside until they cool down. You can use this bread for falafel sandwich bread, Turkish kebab sandwich and different kinds of sandwich foods.
