What is the Bored Breakfast Club NFT collection?
Source: Bored Breakfast Club Dashboard
- The Bored Breakfast Club NFT consists of 5,000 images of apes having breakfast in different backgrounds.
- The Bored Breakfast Club collection blends NFTs and subscription coffee purchases, being the first web3 NFT coffee subscription.
- The NFTs are ERC-721 tokens on the Ethereum network.
The Bored Breakfast Club collection features 5,000 different apes, a figure already familiar in the NFT ecosystem, having breakfast and coffee in different environments, and with distinct personal features, like watches, fur color, and utensils.
Despite using Bored Ape images, the project is not affiliated with Yuga Labs, the company behind the Bored Ape Yacht Club collection. It’s the first web3 coffee subscription.
The NFTs featured in the Bored Breakfast Club collection are created by randomly mixing over 200 variations of up to 8 traits: accessory, beverage, breakfast, fur, location, right hand, wrist, and utensil.
The collectibles are created as ERC-721 tokens in the Ethereum network, and include two high resolution images, in PFP and banner aspect ratios. According to the official website of the project, the NFTs were created by their “chef, host, and barista, who simply goes by Breakfast”.
The most notable aspect of the Bored Breakfast Club is the fact that owning one NFT grants a subscription to Yes Plz coffee, a California company that creates unique blends of coffee weekly, and distributes it to its subscribers. Moreover, while Yes Plz only ships in the US, Bored Breakfast Club ships worldwide.
When new blends are distributed, owners of the NFT must claim their bag in the Coffee Rewards page. If the collector owns more than one token, they can choose to distribute to different locations, or send it as a gift.
Unlike the original Yes Plz subscriptions, owners must claim their reward on each distribution, to allow secondary market buyers to join in the ecosystem as well.
Although there is no DAO or any kind of community organization, the project features a Community Coffee Wallet, that is funded by a percentage of the royalty generated by secondary markets, as well as a percentage of the sales of merch and coffee blends.
New blends in the Bored Breakfast Club are distributed when the Community Coffee Wallet reaches a certain threshold. The money stored in the wallet is used to pay for the preparation and distribution of the packages.
Who is behind the Bored Breakfast Club?
Bored Breakfast Club is created and maintained by the digital design studio Kley, based in California. The team states they’re not related to Yuga Labs, but they own and love Bored Apes, as well as coffee. This project is an attempt to fuse these two passions into one.
Yes Plz, the coffee blending company, is also a client of Kley, so their partnership goes beyond the NFT project.
While the Bored Breakfast Club doesn’t list any team member, the Kley website lists Brad Klemmer as the founder, managing partner, and creative director; Thom Meredith as managing partner and director of technology; Darrin Snider as UX designer; and José Debuchy and Jeff Goodhart as developers.

The volume has severely declined since launch.
