What is the RENGA NFT collection?
RENGA is an anime-inspired, ERC721 profile pic (PFP) NFT collection launched on September 2, 2022. The collection, consisting of 10,000 characters developed with 901 traits, saw a peak average price of $5,438 on October 4.
The initial launch had “Black Boxes” airdropped to holders of The Art of Seasons NFTs, the creator’s earlier project, which RENGA NFTS have since surpassed in hype and popularity.
Black Boxes are still available to buy, which mint RENGA characters with unknown traits and attributes. As of October 19, these Black Box NFTs cost double the floor price of an actual RENGA character NFT.
While RENGA NFTs currently lack utility, the creator of the project, illustrator and comic artist DirtyRobot, aims to launch a storytelling ecosystem where they will play a part.
Who is behind the RENGA NFT collection?
Daniel Isles, a.k.a DirtyRobot, is a UK-born and Japan-based illustrator and comic artist.
In a HYPEBEAST interview from 2017, way before NFTs exploded in popularity, DirtyRobot told the streetwear brand that he previously worked with several notable comic companies, including CAPCOM, and that old Kungfu Fu movies inspired his style.
His first NFT project, Art of Seasons, was launched in March, 2022, and has lost its place to RENGA as the flagship collection.
What is the price of RENGA?
As of October 19, 2022, the floor price of a RENGA NFT was 1.5ETH (around $1,920 at the time.)
The average price data shows how RENGA NFTs declined since October’s peak of $5,438. However, they are still up from their initial average price of $1,396.
