What are the Opportunities after GATE Exam for Budding Researchers?

In India, the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is one of the most competitive exams currently for engineers. Even though engineers are talented enough to clear more than forty exams in their four years of engineering, they find GATE extremely difficult to crack which is statistically observed by such a low passing percentage of engineers in the exam.

Preparing for this entrance exam itself is a challenge, and clearing it is yet another herculean task for them. But then, the more challenging a particular task is, the better result it generates. Just like that, cracking GATE has its own perks & advantages.

Once a student cracks this exam, his life becomes a bit easier by getting direct entry to various Public Sector Unit (PSU) jobs as there are many recruitments through GATE or prestigious engineering colleges/ universities like IITs & IISc for M.Tech using his good GATE score.

Options after Achieving Good GATE Scores

It is a stereotype that the student who cracks the GATE exam will have to select any one from PSU or M.Tech admissions. Yes, these are definitely the most common paths people tend to take after getting a valid GATE score. Somehow, students take the exam generally for these two reasons only.

But, since we have exceptions in all the fields, we have some in here too. There are certain people who don’t just want to spend the rest of their life working on some regular projects or studying something that already exists.

There are people who want to do research and development to keep their intelligent minds busy with the technical aspects of the world that they are passionate about. It’s another mind-boggling thing for the students interested in research to search how they could pursue it.

Opportunities after GATE Exam

When we talk about research, it is considered to be more in the United States. There are many engineers who plan to take up research after their Master’s degree. This is not the case with the ones who crack the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering.

One of the great benefits of GATE is, When you take the exam and get qualified for it, there is no need to go to any foreign university and struggle hard to pay loans for studying or work hard to make a living there. One can very conveniently use his valid GATE score, if it’s good enough, to do research in India itself. Thanks to The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).
