“Lizzie” by Angela Reina.

Just discovered this old 2016 editorial showing an amazing Angela Reina fashion collection inspired by Lizzie Siddal, an amazing woman who is considered to be the first "super model" in history.

A whole group of painters who in the mid-nineteenth century called themselves "Pre-Raphaelites", we’re over the heels in love with her and worshiped her image in their art.
One of them, Rossetti, eventually became Lizzie's husband.
Unfortunately their story is really dark, not just aesthetically but in a sad real life way: he ended up completely controlling her life and making her suffer because of his multiple love affairs.

I will definitely want to know more about the real Lizzie, and for now let me just share several selected fashion photographs dedicated to her personality - so romantic and so vulnerable at the same time. The fragile health and the life itself of this beautiful and sensible woman were completely destroyed by what we now call a classical toxic relationship…

As for me, it’s a great pity that there was obviously no one around capable of explaining to Lizzie that "he just didn’t worth it" 🥀
