Router Protocol Mainnet Launch and Tech Update
Updates are very necessary and essential for every company and system. These updates are to be done after a period of time or regularly.
Recently, Router Protocol closed a fundraise of $4.1 million which saw participation from some leading investors. The round was oversubscribed and saw participation from the likes of Alameda Research, Coinbase Ventures, QCP capital, Wintermute, Polygon, Woodstock Fund, etc. We are truly excited to have along with this in the journey, some of the leading players in crypto today — including investors, market makers and blockchains.
The team has evaluated feedback from the community and are acting upon them. One of the ways the community was part of the journey was giving them the opportunity to run an audit on the updated and upgraded smart Contracts and a bug report was received and acted upon. Before now, the smart contract had already been audited by Halborn Protocol which implies that involving community audits with the traditional security consultant audit is a good one. Also, the cross-chain space is hard to build and hackers have been on the move for this type of projects making Router Protocol focus on security. Keeping this in mind and in response to feedback from the community, going forward, we are going to adopt a more agile approach in our deployments and go-to market strategy. After accounting for all the recent events we are pleased to announce a firm launch date for the mainnet; the day is 27 January, 2022.
The date was chosen after taking into account various factors such as the upcoming holiday week around the New Year and also, the need to patch the newly exposed critical vulnerability as well as future vulnerabilities that might be thrown up by the ongoing audit processes, as well as the need to incorporate some of the critical community feedback elements from the testnet.
Also, the groundwork for Router V2 has begun and have made significant progress on the v2 architecture and design as well as the updated white paper. It is going to be a very major technical upgrade which will open up to an entirely new eco-system consisting of validators, stakers, LPs etc. This will produce a whole new Router blockchain.
Router Protocol is committed to building a cross-chain infrastructure that facilitates seamless flow of liquidity across blockchains, allows for a range of use cases that leverage and extend the composability of DeFi across various blockchains.
