Typography in Graphic Design
Graphic design is made up of several elements, more particularly in the design of a logo which is the ambassador of the brand image of a company.
Considered an essential component of the visual identity, typography has an important role in the design of a logo.
Typography is one of the basic elements of any graphic design. This is why anyone wishing to build an exceptional visual identity must have knowledge of the art of typography.
Typography is the use of different types of policies, appearances, and structures to evoke various emotions and provide certain meanings. In other words, typography is what brings words to life; it's the combination of design skills and a few psychological techniques.
What you need to understand about policies is that each type has their own language and personality, beyond the words on your logo design, policies have so much to say about the spirit of your brand.
Let us take a few examples. Due to their classic appearance, serif fonts are a good choice for a more classic and traditional design, in contrast, sans serif fonts are often used for more clean and modern designs, when it comes to displaying fonts, it's more about decorations. However, script fonts are designed to look more like handwriting.
They can look modern, classic, fun, trendy, comfy and more, each type of font has a wide choice to choose from, just use your creativity and create the perfect typography for your design.
Then, after choosing the policies you are going to use, comes the combination phase, it is better to limit yourself to one or two types of policies per design. For more contrast, repeat using one of your policies in a different shape, size, style or weight, this intriguing assemblage works like magic every time.
Here are some typography inspirations from two famous designs :
- Adobe : The combination of red, white and black represents the company's progressive approach and energy. As for the fonts, it is more of a clean and minimalist style, the font used for this version was "Adobe clean", a sans serif font. As a result, we have a white signature "A" located in a red square, while the word "Adobe" in black is located below the emblem.
- Coca Cola : The coca cola logo rated over the years as a typographic logo, it consists only of text elements and is designed to look more like handwriting. Black, red and white, these colors express the optimism, youth, excellence and purity which are the main values of the brand.
Opposite attracting, this is the main tip for a successful typography, it is the art of combining the marked and the contrast of colors, just make sure you make the right choices when it comes to the design of your logo.
Typography has a huge impact on the brand's spirit and personality, so, the importance of working to improve it shouldn't be underestimated.
