Tasty Recipes for Kids Using Honey

When kids get hungry, though, it’s important to offer them snacks that not only satisfy them but provide nutrients for his or her growing bodies. Things like fruits, vegetables, and lean protein are great to incorporate, but what’s the one thing to tie it all together? Honey, of course! It adds the right amount of sweet and it’s extremely versatile in recipes.

Honey spread Yogurt Dip

Ingredients

  1. 2 tablespoons Sue Bee® honey
  2. 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
  3. 1/4 cup spread

Directions

  1. Combine honey, spread, and yogurt in a small bowl. 
  2. Stir until all ingredients are combined and smooth. 
  3. Serve with fruit, pretzels, or the other food that you simply think tastes best with this dip!

Honey Ricotta Fondue with Fruit Dippers

Ingredients

  1. 1 lb smooth ricotta cheese (one container)
  2. 1 cup apple cider
  3. 1 tbsp honey, or more to taste
  4. 2 tsp cinnamon

Directions

  1. In a medium-sized pot, warm cider over medium heat. 
  2. Whisk in ricotta, honey, and cinnamon.
  3. Stir until cheese has melted and is warmed through and smooth. Serve immediately with cut-up assorted skewered fruit.

Crunchy Banana Pops

Ingredients

  1. 2 large bananas
  2. honey
  3. puffed rice/rice crispies
  4. popsicle sticks

Directions

  1. Peel bananas and cut them in half. 
  2. Insert popsicle sticks into cut ends of the bananas. 
  3. Place on paper and freeze until firm, a minimum of 1 hour. Coat frozen bananas with honey and appear cold cereal. 
  4. Eat immediately, or freeze until able to serve. Finish with a chocolate drizzle, if desired.

Honey Turkey Rollers

Ingredients

  1. 8 oz. - cheese, softened
  2. 1/3 cup - honey
  3. 1/4 cup - mustard
  4. 1/2 tsp. - onion powder, optional
  5. 6 (8-inch) - whole-wheat tortillas
  6. 1 cup - Colby jack cheese, shredded
  7. 12 thin slices - turkey

Directions

  1. In a medium bowl, beat cheese with an electrical mixer until fluffy.
  2. Add honey, mustard, and onion powder; mix well. 
  3. Spread 1 to 2 tablespoons of honey cheese mixture bent the sting of every tortilla. 
  4. Sprinkle each tortilla with cheese, leaving about 1 inch around the edge. 
  5. Place 2 slices of turkey on each tortilla. 
  6. Roll up each tortilla tightly and wrap in wrapping. 
  7. Chill a minimum of half-hour, then slice each tortilla log into eight 1-inch rounds and serve.
