Water pipes
If you decide to bring the water supply to a private house, then first you need to choose a suitable pipe diameter. You cannot be mistaken here: in case of incorrect calculation, it will be inconvenient to use the water supply. And this is emotionally annoying, and additional financial expenses for alterations and frequent repairs of the system.
See also - calculation of the pipe diameter.
It is necessary to select the required diameter of pipes for water supply in an apartment, based on their throughput.
The pipes will be optimal:
- with a small number of turning points and local restrictions;
- with collector wiring (designed to power one point);
- short, while “wide from the inside”;
- with a slight roughness (plastic is preferable to steel).
When it is weak, the pipe diameter should be larger than standard.
Criterias of choice:
- weak pressure + narrow pipes = weak stream from the taps;
- total length of the plumbing system;
- how many water points in the house: the diameter of the pipes is in direct proportion to their number.
The same applies to turning points in the pipeline - in general, any of them slightly contributes to a decrease in pressure.
Do you have the "Cretan labyrinth" there? This means that the diameter - on any section of the pipeline - of the water pipe for a private house should be with some margin.The higher the level of complexity of future plumbing work in the household, the larger the diameter of all pipes, both long and short, should be. When a "complex" water supply system with many turning points, joints and expected pressure surges is assumed, it is worthwhile to insure by increasing the diameter. You should also take into account the maximum values of both pressure and temperature in your water supply system so that it does not burst from the first water hammer.
It is worth correctly calculating the required pipe size, their cross-section and throughput, depending on how many devices are connected to the system, and the number of free water outlets (through mixers). Plumbing installation in a private house differs from the wiring in an apartment. Your own home may have more bathrooms, a lot of equipment that consumes water. If the calculations are not correct, the last of their output points will receive the minimum amount of water. For example, when you turn on the water in the kitchen, the water in the bath will stop flowing. To prevent this from happening, you need to be able to calculate the bandwidth.
