Mente 3000 aka Men-t-zero is a Chilean DJ and artist since 1993, owner and curator of 'INFINITO AUDIO NETWORK'. In 2001, he settled in Barcelona and stirred up the city's underground scene behind the decks, also creating the 'Fueradeserie!' Label. He has shared the stage with artists such as Super_collider, Krikor, Ark, Closer Music, Matias Aguayo, Manitoba, Luciano, James Taylor de Swayzak, Cristian Vogel, Mike Shannon, Ricardo Villalobos, Aoki Takamasa, Solotempo, Plaid, Danny Daze, Luomo among others. He participated in the famous Red bull Academy in Barcelona. Between 2002 and 2008 he participated in a series of European festivals and clubs such as Lo.li.ta (Bcn), The Loft (bcn), Kinzo (Berlin) or Novou Casino (Paris). From May 2023 he will be in Barcelona as the operations center for the label and performances.

#IG: Hello! Tell us more about your Mente 3000 project (aka Men-t-zero)
M: Men-t-zero is my dj nickname from the early 90s, I played with alternative music and hip hop CDs, in the year 95 I began to experiment with electronic music linked to jungle and idm. 6 or 7 years ago I left the name to move to Mente3000 and take it to another level.
#IG: Your musical activity has been functioning since 1993. How did you come to decide to do this (music)? How did it all start?
M: I started very young, with 17 years old and all because of my desire to discover new music, before I made a fanzine and participated in independent radio programs, I have organized some shows, among a thousand other things... the love of music is the only thing that it takes to do all these projects.
#IG: Is it difficult to organize and maintain a label? Name a few pros and cons.
M: Yes, it is something that looks very easy, at first... there you have to have several things organized, apart from recording and creating all the graphic material etc.
#IG: You have lived and toured a lot. In which country did the audience like the most and why?
M: I think the public reacts depending on the stimuli you offer, I like to create new spaces, make people feel that they are witnessing something unusual.
#IG: For what reason did you decide to return to Santiago de Chile again and live there?
M: I returned to live in Santiago de Chile in 2009 after living in Barcelona since 2001, my return has to do with several emotional factors that I had to experience at that time ... In Barcelona he founded another label called 'Fueradeserie!' in the years 2002-2008 oriented to Idm and experimental stuff.
#IG: What do you like more: DJing or writing music?
M: Currently I don't like being a DJ, I couldn't do it every weekend like when I was younger. I like to be preparing things for the label, listening and discovering a lot of music. But doing a dj set with special people in a nice place is always great.
#IG: What do you want to convey to people with your music? What meaning do you put into when you record tracks?
M: I just do some things with friends and try to create states of desolation... I get that, I would love to make happy music that reflects my optimism.
#IG: What is the most productive time of day for you?

#IG: Do you play video games? What's your favorite video game?
M: No. I don't play videos... I'm from the Atari 800 XL generation.

#IG: Has the pandemic greatly affected your creativity and your life?
M: I think so, in my family circle I affect very hard but that is another issue... on a creative level it affects moments I think.
#IG: What plans do you have for the future?
M: My plan is that from now until the end of this year to release all the pending albums that we have with Infinito Audio, a few days ago we suffered a fire in the No Problema Tapes workshop and we lost our new productions that were about to come out. We are going to move forward, but we want 2021 to be able to have more control over the image through mini videos, we hope to have visual collaborators to be able to develop our label idea for the year 2021. We want to take a step in our releases... we want that Infinito Audio is a platform with an attractive and modern language and concept. At Infinito Audio there are beautiful albums from artists like Haunted Ghost, Lucian Moth, Vnzo, Sentence Me To Heaven, Otis Key, the double compilation ** emotional & interstellar outsider ** and a new LP by Somadamantina.
#IG: How can a beginner musician promote himself?
#IG: Which is better: to be alone or to be in a label?
M: It is always better to be with people who like your work and who empower you with ideas, today the concept of a record label has many levels and we think that the main thing is the discourse, the ideas and being at ease.
