“Afbrudt Evighed” is the new album by jjjacob, out March 6th on cassette and digital via Janushoved. The record marks his first physical release and his eleventh release to date, as well as his first project outside his own label katharsis since 2020. It is also the first to carry Danish titles, suggesting a subtle realignment in voice and direction.
Working within a sensitive strain of ambient trance and emotive electronics, the album unfolds gradually. Much of the first half is nearly beatless, shaped by shimmering synth tones, layered atmospheres, and obscure samples that surface and recede. The emotional register leans toward longing, reminiscence, melancholy and a quiet sense of uncertainty. Repetition plays a central role, allowing small changes to carry weight.
Across its extended runtime, “Afbrudt Evighed” holds together mystique and doubt, softness and rupture. It is a patient and immersive body of work, stretching time while gently testing its limits.
