Introducing a new single from KIKOK's upcoming release 'Slow Crunch' - a remix of the track 'Lovely Grinch' by Lyudmila Severtseva.
Luda is a producer and DJ who makes minimalistic bass music with releases on Genot Center, Edited Arts, Internetghetto, Raw Russian, Depth of Sky, Fuselab, Hyperboloid Records.
Luda shared her experience of working on the track: 'In general, it's quite hard for me to do remixes, so I rarely take it on - it's an exhausting process for me, I always want to cheat somehow and take the easiest way. Although de facto I want to add something of my own to someone's track (minimalistic, characteristic for me), keeping the basis of the track.
I didn't aim to reconstruct the track based on loops, I made my own interpretation of the original composition. I liked the breakbeat in Grinch, so I took the structure/soul of the track - the breakbeat part - as the basis of the remix.
Emotionally, I divided the track into 2 parts: in the first one, the mental problem is highlighted, tormented by it, trying to understand, and in the second one, the solution is found and catharsis covers it.
That is, wading together with the 'hero' through the impenetrable emptiness / emptiness, the narrative in the middle of the track develops with a lot of emotions that suddenly creep up and cover the entire substance of the track as well as the essence of our ‘character’.
