"Our first 2026 release has been a long time in the works. Nuit is the first LP from Haxo, the duo of our co-founders Jeanne Gorisse (double bass) & Background (electronics). It fuses raw double bass, hypnotic lo-fi beats, droney synths, taking cues from all sorts of sounds between experimental improvisation, noise, bass music, post-punk, lo-fi, 90s IDM & many more.
It is also the first proper Haxo release since their debut EP, Freitags Variété, released on Nidali Records in 2018. Since then, they have released tracks on Too Soon Tapes, Egregore, Tiger Class & more, as well as Jeanne Gorisse's solo LP on MMLI. They have also made various live appeareances as Haxo over the years, which have been the basis on which these tracks were refined. Some of Nuit's material dates back to the projects origins in 2017, while others were written over Haxo's years of existence. Nuit was recorded in 2023 and 2024, then post-produced & refined until now: as such, it is a reflection of Haxo's unique aesthetics and its evolution."
