How do you explain that we sometimes understand each other with very few words, as if we were already lovers elsewhere, in an elsewhere that goes beyond what we usually perceive and call reality? Perhaps we’re constantly opening portals between dimensions, where the same information is expressed through different codes. Portails, is about transcending boundaries, with each track serving as a portal to a distinct sound world populated by strange, otherworldly creatures.
Musically, it navigates a landscape of cross-genre experimentation, demonstrating how a narrative can emerge through contrasting genres and sound textures. Each track taps into the same emotional core, using different sonic languages to express a unified journey.
Repersonalisation is one of the EP’s most powerful tracks of this EP, using electronic music, club references and samples to build a narrative in a unique way. It mixes breakbeats with a psychedelic organ and Half-Life 2 samples in order to build a story of battling forces.
Mixing and mastering took place in Submarine FM’s studio, in Blacieux, Ardèche.
edna uses deviant beats and dark and ecstatic textures to create portal to other dimensions. Her music is like a zest of life, developed in weird, dynamic and sexy atmospheres, into which ectasis and joy appear like explosions. She explores the narrative potential of DJ sets, weaving in and out and around hardtechno, breaks and tribe, choosing a direction rather than a stream. On the stage, she sculpts a weird and playful, generous black-eyed creature, often associating music with visuals, dance, and performance. “Portails”, her first EP, is announced for the beginning of 2025, after several single releases on compilations in 2023. As a rising DJ and producer from the queer scene of Marseille, edna's talent are demonstrated well beyond, in European clubs and within multiple musical and scenic collaborations with artists from all over the world.
