How to reduce dust while sanding inside.

Dust coming from a drywall can be really terrible and create problems for you in breathing and seeing things clearly. It can be a problem for your equipment as well, so much of a problem that manufacturers don’t accept vacuum cleaners for warranty if they are used to suck up the dust of drywalls. This will go on until we see a major change in wall systems that makes walls free of powder like gypsum coming out of the joints of a drywall. This powder like gypsum created problems for your venture of remodeling as well. However, there are certain ways to overcome this problem and handle the situation without coming across consequent problems. There are certain ways to make dust free sanding possible. We have gathered information regarding these ways to help you go through the home remodeling process without messing your home with gypsum coming from joints of a drywall. Further details are given below:

Using Low-Dust Drywall Compound:

If you don’t want to come across various problems that occur because of airborne powder like gypsum coming from drywall joints then you need to use the low-dust drywall compound for this purpose. Sanding the drywall using a compound is just like cutting wood with a saw that produces sawdust. Heavier particles of dust will fall down on the floor instead of being airborne and going to farthest corners of your home. If you have no issues with the required cost then it is the best way to avoid powder like airborne dust coming from the joints of a drywall.

Barrier & Negative Pressure Dry Sanding:

You can dust a drywall using barriers, that are made up of sheet plastic and are available at any hardware store. However, using barriers is just a partial solution. You need to tape these barriers against ceilings, floors, and walls to separate the dust zone from the other parts of home. If you don’t remove the barriers and barriers have no hole then the area you have covered using barriers will stay clean no matter how much dust is produced from drywall joints. If there is a slight hole in the barriers you are going to regret your laziness in checking barriers. Therefore, you need to properly inspect barriers before using them to cover the clean area. The second part of the solution is creating negative pressure using a box fan. The air should flow towards the outdoors and it will carry a large amount of drywall dust with it outside. It will not help you get rid of all the dust but still it will work considerably.

Using Vacuum sander for Drywalls:

Another effective way to cut down the amount of dust from drywall is using drywall vacuum sander for this purpose. This efficient tool comes with a hose attached with it. The sander is designed to be like a special grid-like structure that is capable of sucking the drywall dust into the hose. At the other end of the hose is a bucket filled with water. Once the dusty air goes into the bucket, the water traps the sand, the only problem is the head is quite difficult to move when it is sucking the dust. Therefore, it is not a great idea to use it for the dusting job of an entire house.
