“...the truth is one is always in silence, and even words don’t cover it, unless you identify with them – if you do, you say: I did this, I did that, this is who I am, and so forth. But really the words, by which I mean everything in the world of name and form, don’t cover it, if you see the underlying silence. In fact, they are not separate as is sometimes implied in the various spiritual paths, there cannot be the world of creation without the silence of the Creator: it’s like trying to have a wave without water, it simply doesn’t make sense. But once you know that your real essence is water, you don’t mind being a wave, you can relax and enjoy it; the wave has a beginning, it has its life, and it comes to an end, but the wave is made of water, and the water is always there, so there’s really no problem. The problem only arises when we think we’re the wave and we fear we’re going to crash onto the beach and dissolve. But just as the water doesn’t go away, it only changes form in one way or another, so the silence is always there. So I feel if you can have an experience of this, then you know there’s nothing to fear, and you know you are always in silence – if you weren’t you couldn’t be...”
sea is God!
sea is God!
O don’t you know
that sea is God?
leave all you have
and plunge right in
abandon boat
it’s sink or swim
look round! look round!
O please look round
O don’t you know
that sea is God?
