Kaspa in Uganda

Community Building, Adoption, and Inclusion

The Kaspa Ambassador Program

Community-centered initiatives often lead to the most robust and vibrant growth. This sentiment rings true for Kaspa, a grassroots and organic (GRO) project focused on cultivating a global local marketing ambassadors network. Without a consistent treasury to back its operations, Kaspa’s growth strategy hinges on this decentralized, local approach.

The Kaspa Ambassador Program (KAP) helps to drive this strategy forward. Introduced by Rhubarbarian, KAP is designed to engage, equip, and support passionate Kaspa supporters worldwide. With a focus on fostering adoption at a local level, ambassadors represent Kaspa in their communities, translating its vision into local cultures and languages. Their mission: to spread the word about Kaspa and encourage people, developers, merchants, and investors alike to consider it.

Abraham Mugisha

Among the initiates of this approach is Abraham Mugisha from Uganda, an individual with a passion for the potential of defi technology. With a background in commerce and marketing, Mugisha brings extensive experience in event organization, community outreach education, and blockchain consultation. He’s a multi-lingual Ethereum Devcon scholar who founded the Web3 Club Africa.

Mugisha was appointed as the Kaspa Ambassador to Uganda in May 2023. His primary goal was to spread awareness about the potential of Kaspa’s blockDAG technology in Uganda and the wider East Africa region.

Between May and June 2023, Mugisha undertook a series of activities to promote Kaspa’s adoption in Uganda. Two such events include a representation at the Flow Network meetup and organizing a Kaspa booth at Blockchain DevFest. These initiatives aimed to foster the growth and adoption of Kaspa, build an active community, and further the broader vision of financial inclusion and empowerment.

The Flow Network meetup, held on May 30, 2023, attracted a mixed crowd of traditional and defi developers. Mugisha spoke about Kaspa, its unique offerings, and the reasons behind his preference for Kaspa over other blockchain technologies. The goal was to educate the community about Kaspa and identify users that would benefit from the technology.

At Uganda’s largest blockchain event, the Blockchain DevFest, Mugisha and his team of volunteers set up a Kaspa booth, attracting a diverse range of tech enthusiasts, investors, and startups. They managed to onboard hundreds of individuals to the Kaspa ecosystem! Introducing them to unique features like mobile accessibility, low-cost transactions, and financial inclusion.

These efforts have paid off, with over 60 new users onboarded onto Kaspa’s social channels and the creation of the Kaspa Twitter Africa channel. These activities have not only promoted the growth of the Kaspa ecosystem in Uganda but have also helped to advance the mission of financial inclusion and empowerment.

As the Kaspa journey in Uganda continues, the local team remains dedicated to driving positive change through blockchain technology. Their efforts confirm the power of a community-centric GRO approach, creating a vibrant, engaged, and empowered network of users. Their story inspires other Kaspa ambassadors worldwide, showcasing the potential for Kaspa to drive social impact and foster economic empowerment in communities around the globe.
