💡 THE ROLE
We are looking for a self-directed Senior Cloud Cost Optimisation Engineer to join a large-scale data engineering programme. You will take full ownership of cost investigations across AWS & Azure — identifying waste, driving reductions, and owning outcomes from discovery to delivery.
- Independently identify & prioritise cost optimisation opportunities
- Deep-dive analysis: compute, storage, data pipelines, managed services
- Build evidence-based recommendations for technical & business stakeholders
- Own initiatives end-to-end → from discovery to realised savings
- Track & report savings with rigour
✅ WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR Technical:
- 5+ years in cloud or data engineering (cost focus required)
- Deep AWS + Azure billing models & cost tooling
- Data platform architecture: pipeline design, storage tiering, compute choices
- Python / SQL for cost analysis & automation
- Cost controls & governance at scale
Soft Skills (key differentiator):
- Operates independently — no hand-holding
- Engages engineers, leads, and client managers confidently
- Translates technical findings into business impact
