About the role
We are looking for a Backend Engineer to join our core engineering team building the infrastructure that powers developers, dApps, and enterprises across 75+ blockchains. You will design and optimize high-performance backend services for blockchain RPC, API gateways, and developer tooling at scale.
This role combines distributed systems engineering and Web3 protocol experience: you will be working with mission-critical services that serve billions of requests daily, with high reliability across multi-region deployments, and internal tooling that automates node orchestration, monitoring, and cost optimization.
Responsibilities
People & Process
- Manage engineering team: hiring, onboarding, 1:1s, growth plans, and performance reviews.
- Plan and track delivery: sprint goals, prioritization, scope control, and risk/dependency management.
- Maintain high standards for code quality, tests, documentation, and review practices.
Technical Leadership
- Lead system design for backend services (Go), API gateways, caching, auth/rate-limits.
- Coordinate API contracts with the frontend team (TypeScript/React) and ensure good DX.
- Define non-functional targets with the teams (latency, throughput, availability) and cost budgets.
- Write and review design docs/RFCs; make decisions that balance speed, reliability, and maintainability.
Cross-Team Collaboration
- Work with Product on scope, acceptance criteria, and release plans.
- Coordinate with DevOps/SRE on rollouts, observability, capacity, and incident handling.
- Support Customer/Support teams on escalations and communicate incidents and resolutions.
Qualifications
- 4+ years in software/backend engineering and 1+ years leading engineers or a squad.
- Strong hands-on backend experience in Golang; solid system and API design skills.
- Comfortable collaborating with frontend teams (TypeScript/React) on API contracts and performance.
- Proven delivery of high-load, customer-facing APIs with attention to correctness and reliability.
- Clear written and verbal communication; able to provide structured feedback and status updates.
- Experience writing design docs/RFCs and driving technical decisions to closure.
- Participate in incident response and contribute to post-mortems and reliability improvements, duties.
Would be a plus
- Familiarity with Web3/DeFi domains
- Infrastructure/SRE experience: Kubernetes or Nomad, Terraform, service gateways (Envoy,Nginx), CI/CD.
- Contributions to open-source blockchain clients or infra tooling.
- Understanding of security best practices (auth, rate-limiting, DDoS protection).
